Okay, what is the difference in x and y pipes as far as appilcation. I understand that off road pipes means no cats, but how do you tell what pipes will fit what headers ? Which style of pipes fit long headers ? Which fit short ? I'm looking to put an off road pipe on my BBK long tube headers on my 89 GT w/ T-5, what pipe do I need ? Sorry for all the questions, any links on the topic would be helpful.

H is haped like and H. X is shaped like an X and is wporth a little more power w/ a slightly higher exhaust note. You need to get a pipe that is specific for you brand of longtube header. I recommend and X of the same brand so it will fit properly.
FYI a Y pipe is for necking down two exhaust manifolds to a single exhuast pipe- like gran ma's chebby.
