hey, my kit just came in today so i decided to install it. every thing was fine until i came to this part in the directions. 8. now you want to find the wire/s that send 12 volts to your engines ignition system... if any one can describe where exactly that wire is or show me a pic of where it is that would be greatly appreciated. its a 99 cobra

it would help if u printed a few more lines, because it would help to know what part of the system u are wiring, because u can take ignitoon system wires as a few different meanings
im gonna guess its a switched 12 volt source so u arent frying spark plugs when the car is off

that would be a little more than 12 volts
lick both fingers and grab, then tell me it was 12 volts

My guess is that the kit is looking for a switched 12 volt source. For this I run a fuse tap off one of the 30 amp fuses on the fuse panel. I'd make sure you are running a good relay with the kit.

No, the wire you're looking for is the 12 volt source which goes to the primary windings of the coil (Note, those kits are designed for cars with distributors). What the kit does, when you stab the throttle and hit the button, it robs spark from the plugs, and allows excess fuel to be blow out the tail pipes and ignited by the spark plugs you assumably installed in the tail pipes. You need to make sure that kit will work with the distributorless ignition system of your car by calling the company for help. [ August 11, 2004, 08:35 AM: Message edited by: wilit ]

I'd rather lick the ends of the wires...
btw - his car is a `99 cobra, and afaik the wires he's looking for are the lead that fires the spark plugs the kit installed in his pipes right? i.e. high voltage?
