I am rebuilding my 302, putting it up to a 306. I have a cobra intake and will be getting some afr 165 or 185 heads.. or maybe even some trick flow twisted wedges. I have to do the smog thing so probably an E cam.
It looks like i may be ordering the rotating assembly from central coast mustangs. stock crank, 5140 forged I beam rods w/arp bots and probe forged pistons. The guy on the phone said that all that was the same stuff they use on there engine build ups in mm&ff magazine. Said the pistons with the afr 165's should get me a 9.3:1 compression..
Any comments on this setup?? Is there anyway to improve upon this(ie better pistons or rods)? what about rocker arms, 1.7 or 1.6??
any info would be great!

Car will be a daily driver in a smaller town (no long drives). I want to be able to pass smog, win some races, and just have some fun driving it.... the intake will get an upgrade as well as the fuel system.
Dont have any real expectations about the HP but i dont want to be disapointed either.

I know a guy selling his HiTech custom cam. He wants $150. It should pass smog easily with a stock h pipe. I ran the same cam and made 340 RWHP/340 RWTQ (AFR's, performer intake). If you got the 185's, an RPM manifold, ran longtubes (swap to stock headers/H pipe for smog), and get a good tune on it, it should make very similar power and drive extremely nice with hardly any lope. The cam specs are 224/221 .555/.528 lift, 113 LSA 113 ICL.

We should compare notes . Im doing the same build and thinking about TMD parts . Their prices are great but I want to change the probe pistons to Keith Black silv a lites. They said no problem, to just call em and they would swap the pistons out. Im going with thumper heads , and E cam also. write me and lets chat. fisheadlee@hotmail.com thanks Lee

TMD= The Mustang Depot, Ebay seller: TMD Ebay
Why on earth would you want to replace Probe Forged pistons with KB Hyper pistons? Especially if you plan on a power adder?
