I bought the car and that same weekend got my engine bored out to a 306. new pistons, moly rings, crankshaft, oil pump and all new gaskets. My motor runs great but it's losing the oil so I believe it's burning it. It doesn't leak. My motor has about 5k miles. Does anyone think it might be my heads? Do heads have anything to do with this?? PLEASE HELP

Cylinder heads have valve guide seals that can leak oil...99% of the time you can tell if your valve seals are leaking when your car smokes on start up....

How many miles are on the heads?

Get your engine really clean and use a hose nossle to blast the bottom of the engine and transmission. If you can get it really clean, you can see where its coming from if it is leaking. And people will compliment you on your clean engine all the time [Smile]

The rings on your new short block could be installed wrong or even broken...There are a lot of possibilities....

I would do a compression check, and if that's ok then I would use the "oil burning" as an excuse to buy some 165cc AFR's [Big Grin] ...

Change your valve seals. It's cheap and easy, a little time consuming.
