well i had a problem with my idle surging realy bad only when i start it for like 20 secondes or more then after that it will idle fine,so i started messing with the fuel presure and it was surging bad with my presure at 40 with the vacume off so i took the vacume off and the idle stoped surging and that was weard so i started lowering the presure down a little bit and i foud out that my car only idles fine when you start it with the fuel presure at i think 35psi with the vacume off,my guage is 0-100 and it gose 20 then half then 40 and i put it between the 20 and the 40 so i think thats 35psi but for some reason i cant raise my presure up any higher or it will surge realy bad on start up i mean realy realy bad, anyone know why i cant run more fuel presure without it surging realy bad,you think maby i have a bad regulator, its a cheep holly, please help.

It's a bad regulator or an issue with tuning. Be it a faulty MAF signal or something along those lines. Thats my thoughts. Hope it helps

Go to the track & do some tuning.
Start with FP down around 30 base & add 1 psi every run you make. MPH should increase at the 1/8th & 1/4 till you reach the correct A/F ratio. Once MPH stops increasing, leave your FP alone.
We have a mass-air from Pro-m that was calibrated slightly incorrectly. On a setup that didn't need 24lb injectors (19's would have been enough) we gained 4MPH at the track from raising base FP from 40 to 48. Sometimes the Maf's just aren't calibrated 100% correct. Yours may be off the other way.
Have you cleaned the mass-air element with a solvent & a Q-tip?

well with my presure at 35psi the car idles fine but when i raise it any higher than that the car wont idle right on start up,it will surge realy bad for a while then it will idle fine,so could it be a bad regulator?i took my pro-m mass air off and put my stock mass air back on and it still wont idle right on start up unless my presure is at 35psi and no higher, what could it be?

my car had know surging problems and idled fine until i added a e303 cam and gt-40 heads, with the stock cam and heads i was able to run any fuel presure i wanted without haveing idle problems,i had it up to 44psi with the vacume off with 19lb injectors, now with the gt-40 heads and e303 cam i cant seem to run any presure higher than 35psi with the vacume off without it surging badly on start up for like 20-30 seconds, what could it be,35psi with the vacume off it idles fine on start up,but any presure higher than that it will surge so bad when i start it up it will try to cut off unless i keep my foot on the gas,why cant i run higher fuel presure anymore without it doing that?please help, could it be my holly regulator going bad?

Low FP isn't neccessarily a bad thing. It really doesn't matter what your FP is as long as the car is running good & you're not running lean/rich.
On the N/A car we have FP up at 56 right now....thats just what it likes. On some of my buddies cars I've seen them lower the pressure to the low 30's because that's what they're motor liked. (made best power at)
The E303 is infamous for surging. The article I linked in the other thread is what cured the hunting idle issues in most of the surging motors I've worked on.

There was a thread on www.corner-carvers.com about a guy who fixed his hunting idle, high idle and lingering throttle with a IAC (Idle Air Control) spacer. Try THIS link. If it doesn't work, just go to corner-carvers.com and then go into the Engine Tech forum and go to search and in the keyword subject field, input "IAC." I'm going to try and find one of those also in hopes that it will get rid of the lingering throttle. The part is dirt cheap too.
EDIT: The pictures have to be cached to view them. So if you want to see the pics that the dude took, just right click on them and then go to properties and select the image URL. Then paste it into a new browswer window and then go back to the original page and right click the red x again. Then select "show picture." The pic should show up.
