yes you can put 315's on 17x9's. i had them on my car. i had the quadshocks removed and a little beating to the inside fender and they barely rubbed. just around turns. but dont back out of any crooked driveways with people in your backseat.

315's on 17x9" wheels?....I stand corrected, but I wouldn't do it....17x10.5" if you want 315's...

Check these out... http://www.wheelreplicas.com/bullittcars.htm

It is dangerous to use 315s on 9" wheels. Nitto specifically recommends a minimum 10.5" wheel.

Heres mine from the back, but these tires are only 275's.... I probably wont be doing 315's next set, but might do 285's.

Your sidewalls would be fucked if you put 315s on a 9" wheel.... be way too mushy around corners, I would advise against it.

I have a 2001 GT with chrome 17x10.5's, 17x8 front, looks sweet. I have them on my car (off for the winter) 10.5's makes the rear look alot more aggressive. No rub ever it's lowered 1.5 inches.
