I saw this on the Corral and found it very impresive!
Stock intake engine dyno results.... A few weeks back I promised to share the dyno results of the engine I built for the 90 notch. Its a mild combo, made for a daily driver with AOD. I wanted a torquey engine with stock driving manners, better than the one I built for the 95 vert I had. Here is the combination used:
C&L with cast elbow, BBK 65mm TB Ported stock intake (lots of work) AFR 185's with port, valve and seat work 306 shortblock with stock crank and flat tops Stock cam (taken out of the 95) 1 5/8 dyno headers (I will be using shorties on the car) High-ratio crower roller rockers 24 lb injectors, stock fuel rails Std vol oil pump and stock pan, conventional 10W 30 oil Accel distributor and Motorsport 9mm wires( dyno MSD box)
The engine was run on Victory Engine's dyno (www.victoryengines.com), using a A9L ECM. The accessories run included the water pump and the alternator. 17* initial timing. Here are the results, hp/tq (pulls started at 3500):
3500 266/377 4000 310/385 4500 357/392 5000 382/384 5500 399/360 6000 382/315
The results exceed my hp expectations of 350. Torque was table flat, only changed 16 ft/lbs from 3500 to 5500. I basically hit my goal of 400 fwtq.
I want to thank the guys at Victory Engines for a fantastic job, and to fellow Corraler Jeff Chambers for taking time out to help and provide his valuable insight and experience.

So, I'm guessing you will lose about 80 HP installed, plus subtrat another 30 for the AOD, so about 290 to the wheels is my guess, which is still great for an AOD 306 with stock cam.
I wonder how heavy the Port, Valve, and seat work was done to the 185s. Obviously he got .600 springs & titanium ret. possibly. I wonder what he'll get with a better damper, short belt, etc. Are there ratios higher than 1.72 rockers? Definite Piston-notching in progress if so!
Very nice combo, I never thought those #s were obtainable w/stock intake.

i can see the cam but couldn't you've gone with the gt40p intake or somthing a lil' better? 185cc? what differnts would the dyno numbers be with 165 afr? i got the impression that 185cc head where to big for base 5.0's

The owner of the car does not post on this site. Read the article for details.

wouldn't 399 FWHP be closer to 340 RWHP in a T5? (14% drivetrain loss, rounded down)

I find that engine dyno's seem to read 25% high compared to dynojets. 340rwhp with a stock intake and cam just wouldn't make sense.
