i recently installed caster camber plates on my stock suspension with eibach lowering springs in my 90 vert. i am now having a BIG problem with the struts bottoming out. i looked at the travel and i only have 1 inch of travel before the strut bottoms out. the struts are monroe direct oem replacements. i don't know if the struts are bad, since i've never heard of anyone having this problem, or if i need to step up to another, more expensive type of strut with my cc plates. thanks in advance for any help you guys can give me. drew

they're UPR cc plates. it came with a couple of different spacers, but only one set would work with the struts, otherwise they would'nt even thread onto the nut on top.

Typically Eibach springs lower a car too much for stock style struts. What you need to do is either move the mounting flanges on the struts up an inch, or buy new struts with the flange already moved up (I think QA1's are like this). That will gain another inch of travel back.

Pretty pricey. They look to be anywhere from $189 to $229 depending on where you get them. Check into Koni and Tokico. You might be able to get them with the lowered mounting clevis.

Buying new struts is cool, but its not needed.....Yeah, the stock struts suck, but they're not the problem...You said that you recently installed the UPR CC plates, is that when the struts started bottoming out???....
Get rid of your UPR CC plates and buy some Maximum Motorsport ones...I've never had any experience with the UPR plates, but there should be NO reason why they shouldnt work with the Eibach kit...Is the Eibach kit the Pro-kit or the Sportlines?....

i think they're the sportlines, i've had them for about 5 years, so i can't really remember. since i've already paid for these cc plates, i'd like to try something other than having to buy another set of plates. how should i go about finding a set of struts that will give me more clearance? i'm going to try koni's website, but if anyone has had this problem, which struts helped to fix the problem? this is very irritating since i can't even take a corner at a decent speed without the strut bottoming out.

you're actually the second guy to bring that up. i'm taking it to my guy at his suspension shop, and i'll bring that up to him. he helped me install the cc plates, so he feels obligated to work on my shit until it rides right.

Great info on why lowering a car is bad for handling.

something doesnt sound right, was the front end on the ground when you put the spacers and top nuts on? sometimes you need to pull the shaft up because it doesnt rebound on its own. you should be able to fit 2 or 3 spacers on top of the plate. sn95 struts are longer so you probably dont have those
