I'm taking my A/C out and was wondering what belt number I should use after I remove it. I'm also taking my smog pump and putting in a smog pump eliminator braket. Will I have any problems with the belt rubbing or anything like that?

Dont bother with the smog pump eleminator kit its a waste of money. I think fordmuscle.com has the belt sizes to get.

get the a/c recharged keep the smog pump and bypass the smog and power steering. useing 695k6 belt. then you can easily put the stock belt back on.

what you need is the ford racing ac eliminator kit you can get this from pepboys.this kit makes your power steering point up instead of side ways.after you install that you unbolt your smog pump and set it aside.purchase and install auto zone belt #745k6 and your ready for take off! you can check out my engine.

Get the FMS AC eliminator, you can order it from www.summitracing.com. It was factory equipment for fox bodys with no ac. It makes everything look really clean and moves your power steering up to the position where your ac compressor is currently.
You don't need to buy a smog pump eliminator, all those do is replace it with a dumby pulley which is pointless and defeats the purpose of removing it in the first place. Either completley remove it or just bypass it completley.
To find the belt size you need get a piece of string and wrap it around all of the pulleys the way the belt would and mark it off. Then take the string down to the parts store and you will be able to get the size you need.

I removed my ac because for one the compressor was broken and for two when it did work it never blew cold air, even after I re-charged it.
I think it looks a lot better without it too. The less under the hood the better in my opinion.

Every nut, bolt and A/C system part from under the hood weighed 32-34 lbs on the bathroom scale. The compressor was the bulk of the weight at 19lbs. A far cry from 100. [ December 19, 2003, 01:08 AM: Message edited by: st5150 ]
