How long does it take to break in a new set of 4.10's. You can't go hard for awhile right. Whats the process? Any insight would be appreciated. [patriot]

It really depends who you talk to. Some say screw breaking them in, others say make sure you heat cycle them and put about 500 miles on them before you drive hard. It's all up to you really and what you feel comfortable with.

from what I understand if they are installed correctly get on them right away, but if yoyu have the slightest doubt, 25mph for the first 100 miles, 35mph next 100, 45mph next 100, and so on until 65MPH and 500 miles [patriot]

do they tell you to break in your rearend when you buy a new car, NO. shit, i've never done any type of break in, and i've never had problems, when a rearend shop tells you to go easy for a while or to follow there break in precedure, there just trying to cover there own ass. just my thought. It doesn't hurt to break the gears in when you first have them installed. It tempers the metal only making them stronger. In the end it's up to you.
