Ok so I don't have P/S or A/C and I have always had a problem with having my belt slip, I had to buy a belt that was so small that the tensioner had to be ALL the way over and putting as much pressure as possible on the belt or it would slip, However this is eating up belts because as the tensioner is moved as you can see in pic it starts to go toward the motor, this causes it to "eat" or "cut" at the belt and destroy it in a matter or 5,000-10,000 miles. Don't really care about that, now I am bypassing my smog pump because it's useless and just sitting there, The problem is I have my belt squeek again. The tenioner is bearly able to reach the belt so I know it has plenty of pressure on it, Should I go get a new tenioner because this one flexs in toward the motor? or is there a better what to route my belt or maybe a different kit to but to route the belt another way. Any help would be great, thanks Casey.

I run the exact same setup as you do except for the power steering delete..... here is what you need to do.... add washers! Add washers between your aluminum braket and the aluminum tube on you AC delete kit. It looks like you nee about 3 washers.

 -

Oh yeah, what ever respect I had for you running 103 mph I take it back because of the 4 banger seats on a light LX (notch?) with no power steering [Razz]

I've heard clever positioning of a toothbrush can do wonders.

LX seats are what? 3-5#'s less than GT seats?

Okay I tried the washers but the belt stays on that edge and now about 20% of the belt is over hanging the waterpump, not good, so I am not sure what to do. Any ideas guys?

Yes, use washers to space out the water pump pulley how ever much you need. For example 2 washers on each of the 4 bolts holding the water pump pulley on.

that is just going to offset the crank pulley then.... I would think there is a better way to do this....

I think sawson means to use spacers behind the bolts holding the water pump in, behind the pulley, it's tough to do but I've done it before.

(toothbrush if you don't run a tensioner [Wink] can space the alternator a little)

I'm not complaining about the 20 lbs difference in seats as much as I am about not having a light speed density coupe with no power steering....... and hmmmmm new timing chain, valve cover, and head gaskets I see [dance]

I would love to not run a tensioner it seems to be causing the problem, but how can I route the belt without it there? check out the pic of how it is now joe? am I missing something?

Also if I space out the water pump pulley then the crack pulley is going to be offset and then the belt is just going to rub down there, I want to fix the problem not move it. I tenioner is where the rubbing is but it seems the more I move the tensioner out the move the belt goes right with it, look at the pic and notice the belt is in the tensioner going away from the motor, even with more spacing the belt just goes out farther I would think with 3 or 4 washer the belt would come right off the water pump pulley

Timing change cover was replaced by previous owner and I believe it is the wrong one and is causing lots of my cooling problems, and he also Spray painted the intake and valve covers I replaced the head gaskets because they were blown. I don't know about timing chain but it has a new harmonic balencer the previous owner dropped the old one and broke it or something he said. Anyways back on my belt issue.... hehe Sawson no need to hate on the speed density and light wieght [Big Grin] wait till I get another 150 lbs out of it. [burnout]

I thought you'd notice the trend by now... if the crank is offset, then add.... washers behind it [Big Grin]

It sounds like not all 3 of your aluminum pipes on your AC delete kit are the same length, so you're off on two different axises.

Okay I check the aluminum pipes on my AC delete kit and found that the big one, the one on the far right is for sure a bit too long for the others and for the rest of the pullies for that matter, so how can it be shortened? Do I need to order another kit or just have that one cut? Also by looking at the pic what A/C delete kit do I have? just so I know, Thanks Casey

Ok I got it all lined up a lot better but the belt is still slipping really bad, with just a tiny bit of gas it slips? Should I go buy another belt? Is there a better kind of belt that slips less then most? also I am really at the end of the tensioner so I can't go to a smaller belt, Is there an accually way to run my setup without a belt tensioner? If so how would I do it, thanks Casey

What do you mean slips? Is the belt on the edge of a pulley and about to fall off or is the belt centered on the pullies, but just makes noise?
