Just wondering who's gone 12s with a stock 5.0na without doing h/c/i or any kind of headers.

sort of, headers+explorer intake, 12.932 @ 104.74 w/1.72 60', best mph 105.3 in July summer air at Sac.
went a couple 13.0s w/explorer intake but without headers, @ 103.x [ May 16, 2003, 10:29 AM: Message edited by: shade-tree ]

Joe do you know if anyone has done it? I'm just curious to see how the ModMotor stacks up to the Pushrod motors. The first time my car went 12s (with the Drew Mod) The car had no H/C/I or Headers. With only the spare removed and a race weight of around 3400lbs. Now with adding the LTs Drew ran a 12.7 with it at 3350lbs.

The venerable Cosby ran 12.5 @ 107 with a completely stock longblock from the TB to the oilpan. Full weight less jack/spare, 4.30s and a 5-speed and a 28" true slick.
on the corral there's a few others that have done it: cleanLX, Buffhomer (altitude adjusted, he runs at 3600'), Jared Rude, Glenn, and that's just off the top of my head.
I'd use Bob Cosby's 12.5 @ 107 as the fastest I am aware of from a totally stock 5.0 longblock.

If both motors had stock H/C/I I am sure the mod will go quicker but I think once the pushrod motor put H/C/I on it would smoke the mod motored car. The fox's are just choked up in stock trim.

I didn't run 107.anything until I swapped to GT-40 iron heads, and you all know my car is about 150#'s underweight, lol.

If you want to compare the '99+ SOHC motor to the 5.O's, you better compare it to the '93-95 Cobra's to make head flow comparason's even. '96-'98 SOHC heads flow like stock 5.O heads, '99+ SOHC heads flow like "GT40" heads and DOHC heads flow like Trick Flow TW/AFR165's, if not a tad bit better. Just wanted to make sure you're comparing apples to apples

I don't agree with the smoked part. I will say it's alot easier for a 5.0 to run hard with all the after market parts that are out there. But there are 4.6 2v running 11s on all motor. With a very limited after market selection.

it had A/C, was missing the back seat and the passenger seat, some might call that gutted, but it was 150#'s of weight reduction total

Then why was it so fast? My car only trapped at a best of 98 when it was mostly stock.

Like what kind of tricks? I had 4:10s, full slicks, pulleys, ram air and still only hit a 13.65@98.05mph

3030# raceweight, 10-holes up front with 225's, bypassed smog and PS, crank spun alternator+H20 pump and an idler only. Iced the intake, got pushed through the staging lanes, underdrive (street style) pullies, removed front swaybar stock clutch and T5, 65mm TB, 70mm MAF (doubt those did anything), and an explorer intake (that was worth a solid 1 mph)
