Tonight, I took the JBA shorties and Bassani catted X-pipe off to install my Hooker Longtubes. I took the spark plugs out for clearance and noticed the #7 spark plug was black but the rest looked good. Upon closer inspection, the insulator is cracked [Eek!]
The car never had a "dead" miss, but at times it would run MUCH better than others. I also noticed that the times it ran "not so good", I would have a vibration above 4000 rpm.
Didn't get to run it tonight 'cause I have to tow it to the muffler shop tomorrow to have the custom 3" x-pipe made
What do you think? did my car run a 12.5 @ 106 on 7 1/2 cylinders? I hope so !!!! [Big Grin]

I hope that explains it, I put those plugs in when I installed the motor and haven't looked at them since. I bet I cracked it when I installed it 2 months ago
If I get the exhaust done tomorrow and the weather gods are kind, I will try to hit Sac on Wednesday

Nope, clayed the motor before I put in all together. I have close to .110 on the exhaust side and more than double that on the intake

I'm always suprised how well a spark can jump, your plug still probably had some spark runnin through it....My car has run with a rough idle, with one of the plug wires totally dis-connected and it was still totally drivable!!...I think maybe you have 1mph with a new plug.....Hey, prove me wrong!!! [Wink] [Big Grin] ....Its gonna be hard to track prove if your plug was that bad if you put the 3" exhaust on...Oh well!..

I had the exact same thing happen to me, but it was the #3 cyl. It ran exactly how you describe. The #7 plug is a 5 minute swap... I guess we'll have to wait until this weekend to see if it fixes your MPH [burnout]

I'm gonna say no...that is probably not the cause.
Sorry Bud.

I crack my sparkplugs all the time. (it's a bitch to install plugs on this car) I've run on the dyno & at the track on cracked plugs.....& I had no problems. I replace them when I find them....no difference in performance.

Here's a test. [Wink]
Pull off the intake spacers & run the car....no other mods. See what happens.

[Roll Eyes] Leave it alone already
I told you at the track that the reason I am running the spacer is due to the lack of clearance between my intake and valve cover for my nitrous solenoid.
Here's a deal for you, You buy me an externally polished Edelbrock RPM intake AND NOS Bigshot plate for it, I will take off my GT-40. Until then the GT-40 stays
