My 95 GT, 306 with 10# vortech. I changed my plugs, wires, some troublesome gaskets, had my upper plenum polished, you know just getting her ready for summer. Before I did all this when the car was at idle the vac/boost gauge read 10 in the vac. Now after doing all this work it reads 5 in the vac at idle. Do I have a leak now or did I before? Is this ok? BTW, the car runs better than it ever did so I just want to be sure all is good. Thanks

When you loose vacuum psi its normally a leak....You said your car runs better than it ever did...How's the idle, is it rough?..

I would try and spray a little carb cleaner around the intake and see if you can hear the rpm's change while spraying the carb cleaner...That should tell you where you leak is..

~Sounds like a stupid quetion, but how are your brakes?...Its possible that your power brake unit could be leaking vacuum also....Its most likely something you touched when you switched your intake.. [patriot]

Now that you mention it, I also changed all the vaccuum hoses to something that looks better. Now, when I go to start the car after it is cold and sitting and I hit the brakes they kinda dont work for just a minute till I am supposing the power brake unit kicks in. Should I check something special now. Should I have not taken that hose off my booster to the tree? Thans for the reply.

You need a vacuum sorce to the power brake unit for it to work properly....The power brake unit help you stop better, kinda like a power steering pump helps you turn easier...

If you changed the vacuum line going to the power brake unit just change it back and see if there is a difference....

All I did was change it with one that is a different color. I was wondering if just taking it off is what did something but I dont think so. I can change it back but I dont think it will matter.

Taking off any vacuum line and re-installing it wont change anything...

I suggest just re-checking all the vacuum lines that you installed...Make sure that they are all the same size as the one's you replaced them with..

You could change back each individual vacuum hose and see if there is any difference with each one-(process of elimination)... [patriot]
