What are the benefits of an aluminum drive shaft over a stock one? What can I look to obtain by purchasing one?

If you buy the FMS alum D/S its about 7.+lbs lighter than stock...Thats 7. lbs less rotating mass..Maybe nothing you can feel, but I'll let you know on that one..I'll be getting an FMS D/S next week... The FMS D/S is 3.5 diameter, same as my stock 94's but I think its bigger than a fox body D/S..If your car is lowered you might have clearence problems..
Hey $159. for a balanced D/S with new U joints isnt bad, and its 7.lbs lighter than stock!...Every little thing adds up!

Only thing I have heard is that it reduces weight and vibration. Other than that, there are no benefits.
Worthless upgrade if you ask me, unless you have a tremendous amount of shake in your shifter.

They are lighter (which does help) and they dramatically help reduce vibration at high speeds!

You don't really need one but they can't hurt you, they can only help. They are lighter and I thought it was a minor acceleration benefit. I couldn't say for sure.

Assuming your stock shaft is well balanced, the gains are next to nothing. Spend your money on more proven mods.

Here's one unforseen side-benefit:
When you pull that last bolt of your driveshaft, and it comes crashing down it hurts that much less.

I am sure that rings true to anyone who has changed a clutch, tranny, etc. LOL
