Stock AFR valvetrain? What cam are you running? I can find springs to match & you can use the stock retainers/locks.

How high are you trying to rev? I know AFR also changes the valves when they do their spring upgrades from the factory.

I Upgradede the valves to some manly valves. The springs were just shimed, and i have 1.6 rr's from Gromm. The Cam is a isky cam. 544/573 dont really remember the duration. Its a blower cam. The numbers i pulled on the Dyno were 323hp@55-56k but will stay at 323 up until 6k rpm. they didnt rev it past 6k, but byron told me that the valves might be floating, so that might be the reason that the HP stays the same. the trqe was 321@55,000rpm. The heads were port matched to the holley intake. I am happy with the numbers i pulled but if i can pull a lil more with upgrading the valvetrain then i will. The motor is a 331 with a 9:1 comppresion ratio. Thanx for the replys guys.

....It's a bit difficult to find the proper springs for a cam without the duration #'s.....but, the other info you provided will help.
Torque peaked at 5500rpm? If so, peak HP should be over 6500RPM. You say the stock AFR springs were shimmed, so that'll add a little pressure over the stock 110lb specs.
Well, without the cam specs it's better to over-spring it then under-springing as you'll run into the same problem you have now.
Comp 978 dual valvesprings. 146lbs seat @1.800 installed height. ~370lbs open. ~$130 from Summit. Install them at 1.800 inches. You say you have a blower cam, so I assume you plan on slapping a blower on it eventually. These springs will allow ~8-10psi MAX from a blower when/if you ever slap one on. If you plan on pushing more boost, you'll need stiffer open pressure springs, in which case I'd call a valvetrain guru like Ed Curtis.

well if it stopped revving, it's pretty obvious what is wrong
i always thought valve float would make a bit of a spikey flat line because the float isnt controlled by anything

93PONY, I have out of the box TFS track heat heads with 1.460" double springs 125lbs at 1.780" and 334 lbs. at .500 in. lift and 376 lbs. at .600 in. lift open pressure. One night I was staring at my boost gauge to see how hi it would go (not a good idea because I forgot I took out my box with rev limiter) and right as it hit 17 psi the valves started to float and i let off instantly, my recall tach said 7,150rpm. Why do you say these springs... "146lbs seat @1.800 installed height. ~370lbs open. ~$130 from Summit. Install them at 1.800 inches." are only good for 8-10 psi?

It has more to do with the ramp-rate of the cam. Mild ramps like the stock cam require less spring to keep valvefloat at bay. Faster ramps, like the Comp XE line require MUCH stiffer springs. I'm guess this guys cam is not quite as steep as the XE line, but judging by the lift, it's not much softer.
I've seen valvefloat on an N/A motor at 6500rpm with 140lb (seat), 380lb (open) & a fairly mild XE lobed cam.
The weight of the valvetrain plays a factor too. The heavier the components, the more spring is needed. Ford Hydraulic roller lifters are on the heavy side.
