My car is still doing the back fire stuttering thing at higher RPM's and sometimes at lower rpm's. It almost feels like a backfire in the exhaust. I have removed all my sound deadning material in my hatch and I can really hear my stock 88lph 150K fuel pump screaming. Do you think my car is just starving for fuel. I knwo they get real loud when they are about to go out but I just figure it was lound because I took everything out of the hatch.
I changed the: 1. Plug wires 2. cap/rotor 3. fuel filter 4. plugs are about 4 months old orignally gapped at .032 5. Timing is set at about 13 -14 degrees
Please any suggestions, this is really frusturating. [ December 05, 2002, 11:01 AM: Message edited by: 91sleeper ]

when my car was doing that it was because i was using an msd blaster2 coil without an msd box and with a tfi dist. you need a tfi coil if you're running a tfi dist. i'm guessing that's not your problem though.
my sister's car did that also, it turned out that one of her intake valve springs broke and it wasn't closing the valve all the way.

Well I have a blaster coil from MSD on there and I know iot has nothing to do with that becasue it worked fine with it for a long time and its like all of a sudden this has started happening. I think i'll just get a Walbo 255 in tank and see if that solves it.
