Hi guys, I've been having a problem with my 93 coupe 5.0
Whenever I turn on my headlights, my stock electric temp gauge shows 1 notch higher instantly. And when I turn off the lights, the temp drops instantly, based on the stock gauge. Has anyone seen anything like this before or have any ideas? Bad ground maybe?

If anyone has any thoughts, I'd like to hear them. Thanks.
Luke

How in the world does a curcuit like this create a short? Any ideas? And where should I start looking? I can understand an open, but a short?

Luke87GT, sorry dude I'm no electrician, but this is one of those common Mustang problems. It seems that Ford used voltage regulators that weren't all that great. I had the same problem. I ended up just putting Autometer gauges in my A/C. I never even look at that gauge anymore.

Sounds like a common ground problem. Un-do and clean the following grounds:

-headlights- They're grounded to the radiator support. Very easy to spot.

-battery to EEC to fender- Grounded near the washer fluid fill neck.

-back of drivers side head to firewall-

It wouldn't hurt to pull your headlight switch out and make sure the connector is not melted like mine was. Its very easy to pull out with a small flat head.
