Hello All,

I have a 91 Mercury Topaz and I was wondering what it would take to swap a low-buck 5.0 into it. I would prefer a manual, but the car is auto right now and if it would be a lot cheaper, I could go with an auto. Obviously, this would be the ultimate sleeper!

If you have any info/suggestions/comments, please, I would be glad to hear them. The junkyard is filled with donor cars and 5.0s are cheap...I just wanna go fast for as little cash lay-out as possible.

Thanks!

that's a tempo right? I imagine the swap will be painful. I had an '84 tempo and the swap might really suck. Not a lot of room, not sure about engine mounts, etc.

Not to mention no tunnel for the tranny to fit. I'm sure it can be done.... but with that V8 growl coming from your tempo, it won't be much of a sleeper.

I wouldn't waist my time. I would just by an 85-88 gt 5.0 and put some 4 banger rims on there, and cut off the tail pipes. Your wiasting your $ doinf that.

Alrighty, Just curious...since I had the car I was just wondering. Thanks for your replies.
A guy just never knows what swaps have been done and if there are kits around or at least some ppl that have done it.
