More details. Compression ratio, cam, transmission, gear ratio, etc? What carb do you have on there now?

good rule of thumb-> cubic inch x max rpm / 3456 = recommended carb cfm so I would say a 550-600 cfm carb would be the best place to start

650, 700 maybe if it was all out drag car. dont ever go to small on a carb, they can be down sized always but not upsized. a tuner or my tuner i talked about will have u squared up no problem.

The 650cfm 4150 will be just fine. Max I'd go is 700cfm.

@ 5.0 LSX. You are correct in my book as because when i was doing work for Chevrolet we used 1.6-1.7 CFM per HP and that comes out to your numbers exactly. So a good starting point is 1.6- 1.7 CFM per HP and 10% either way. Remember a hungry dog always comes to the chow line first. Good job my friend [ 2014-05-21, 03:58 PM: Message edited by: Tom Renzo ]

Nothing wrong with a Quadro Jet Dunkin. I ran one for years and it was pretty impressive. They run when set up correctly.

They are hit or miss.. They either run great, or like total shit. And once your great carb has a problem. They never run right again.

No different than any other carb. The Q JET is one of the best carbs on the market in my view. And like i said i ran one for years. As far as rebuilding them they are a piece of cake depending on your knowledge of the carb. The QJ is very reliable and most certainly a performance unit. Reason people do not like them is because they do not know how to tune them and set them up correctly. The small primaries provided good emissions and throttle response and tyhe large secondaries provided great HP [potential. Built in the largest flow rate of 800 CFM'S the carb had mechanical secondaries a center mount float system that was crucial to its great performance and its ability to be tuned quite simply. frankly you have to look high and far to beat a QJ for economy emissions and performance. Lol 25+ year of messing with carbs... I think I know what I'm doing. Called Qjunks for a reason... Spread bore carbs are a go between. Not the greatest for emissions, nor for pure performance. I've seen better emissions out of a vac secondary, and everyone has seen better performance out of "double pumper" style carbs. So please don't piss on my shoe and tell me it's raining.. Nope pissed on a lot of cars running other carbs in my class. But if you believe the QJ is junk clearly you are pissing on someones leg claiming you are an expert. As for the emission aspect the QJ is exactly why GM used it and it proved very effective. Well so be it and that is that i guess. Difference of opinion. Never have I every claim to be any kind of expert.. But Again.. In 25 years of playing with carbs. You get to know which ones are really worth a shit.. Hell I still run a carb to this day... So please.. Spare me.
