Anyone in the Sac area able to shorten axle tubes on differential housings? I want to shorten each end by 2.5" on an 8.8 housing.

John, I posted in your YB thread as well, but if Mike is too far, give Jeff at Jaws Gear & Axle a call. He is in Roseville now I think.

Actually found a place 5 minutes away that has the fixture and can cut and weld the ends on. How is it possible to cut 2.5" off the ends and weld on the 9" big bearing flange without grinding off the lower control arm bracket and re-welding it on once the ends are welded on? Need 4 7/8" but only have 4 1/4 to the bracket.

Got the answer. I have Moser ends = 2 3/8" wide. Strange ends = 1.30" wide.

Are they the big bearing 9" with 1/2" mounting holes?

Can I get an answer back pretty quick? I want to order them today before they close if yours don't work out. Please post up a picture of them if you have them.

Sorry man, just got back. Unfortunately I only had 1 pair of the early ends but they're unmarked and about as wide as the mosers.

That's okay, not a problem. I will order tomorrow. Thanks for the try.

You can try Alex at Big head motorsports 916-764-2953. I don't know how close to Loomis you are but he does really good work.

Yeah thanks. I found a place just down the road from me that cuts and welds housing ends. He's got the fixture to keep it straight and charges $200 with a 2 day turn around. Loomis is very close also.
