I was looking at the thread in GEN talk called: 363 dart F1R build! and this thread got me thinking.
I have to go to a rear sump pan here soon and wanted to make sure I can still run cable. The car will be tracked so A good pan will be a must. was wanting to go canton over milodon due to ground clearance. thanks [ 2013-04-06, 07:23 AM: Message edited by: v-town coupe ]

I run/ran Canton's road race pans. I have never had any issues with clutch cables. The problem with cables mostly starts when you start putting long tubes on the cars.

I have ran a canton and did not like how the cable had to kink around the pan. That was 7 years ago and they may have changed things. I am currently running this one.

It does not hang below my k member. My thought was the pickup would be covered with more oil than a t-pan. I did ad some baffling to keep the oil from climbing the walls in the corners. The only down side to this pan is it is supposed to not work with a stroker. I am running a 306.

not sure what to do, im at that point where I'll be cleaning my engine compartment up and I'm considering just spending the money and going hydro clutch to clean up the compartment and not have to worry about this in the future.
I considered doing the mod that was shown on the other thread, BUT it wont allow me to use pan dipstick which I need since I have to convert to rear sump on a non-rear sump block.

The moroso t-pan had the same issues as the canton. They have supposedly adressed it. You may look into a moroso.

There are no issues routing the clutch cable with a Canton 15-644 pan and BBK headers at least with Griggs and MM K members. I'm not sure if a stock member would change that but I doubt it.

This is in a 67 cougar. The front end I'm going to requires rear sump. they specify the canton 15-644 as fitting no problems, so that's what I'm looking to run, since my current garage setup will make this swap a B!tch, not looking to do 2x!

I can get you pictures tomorrow. I'm working on the car.
You'll see the clutch cable start from the front of the motor. Under the oil filter, over the steering rack, run between the K member and the motor mount, along the top of the pan kick out, outside of the dip stick and into the clutch fork. The cable does get close the the headers so a section of something like FireBraid or some heat protector is probably needed.
My Canton pan is a few years old and slightly different than the picture of what they're selling now. The new version has a rounded hump on the bottom that goes over the steering rack and K member. Mine, as you'll see, is squared off.

Looking forward to seeing those pics also. When I built my current car I did not go with the canton because I did not like the kink in the clutch cable on my previous car. It was a pan I had bought about 10 years ago. Maybe the newer ones have changed.
I installed a Moroso in a friends car about 5 years ago that had the same problem as the canton. We modified it a lot to get away from the problem. I have read recently that moroso has worked that problem out.

Along the engine compartment leading to the front of the engine...
Over the steering rack and under the engine mount...
Along the top of the oil pan kick out. The engine is still in the process of being installed so the dip stick hole is capped off.
Through the bellhousing and into the clutch fork...
This routing has been used with all combinations of a Ford engine block, Dart engine block, Griggs K member, MM K member all with BBK long tube headers.
