When I first start my car it makes a really irritating rattle noise. I just bought a brand new starter and its still making the noise. Any suggestions?

Misaligned starter or your flywheel teeth are worn down.

yea you cant adjust the starter, only by shims but that mostlikely wont do help. hows the teeth on the flywheel? does it only do it during starting?

the teeth are perfect. And yes, its only when I start the car. Probably less than 3 seconds but its just annoying!!

Im reading alot of people saying you might need a shim. I don't have the bellhousing heat plate so I'm guessing that the extra little 'shim' its lacking? Also they have 2 different 'head cones' on these....Could that play a role in this problem?

that could be it lol ford starters dont need to be shimmed thats chevy but the block plate should be there do you have a older foxbody with the newer small starter those newd to be wired different than 87-89 starter you can u the old starter cylinoid or upgrade to the newer one that could be your problem too rhat the starter is acting like your hold the key on start after you let go....
