before replacing, test it, connect the 2 pins on the plug for the temp sensor with a jumper wire and turn the key on, the dash gauge should max out if it's working right, then it's either the temp sensor or also possible you don't have a thermostat or one that is stuck open. I agree you should always test anything before replacement that way you save yourself money and a possible migraine..

Don't over look a bad radiator cap....pressure test it. Should hold at 16lbs. Pressure test the system as well. Old loose clamps. Can have the smallest leak of pressure which will cause your coolant or mixture to evaporate easier. Temp sender is on drivers side lower intake manifold. Just behind a/c or where the ac would normally be located.

^great advice/tips! i seem to be losing coolant...but i have no coolant leaks anywhere, even after running the car and looking for leaks...so i guess my coolant is evaporating because i need to fill up my reservoir every 2 months...
ill replace my rad cap, temp sensor, and change out my heater hoses as well as put in a new t stat housing and t stat..i hope that remedies the coolant evaporation...that i think i have
