+1 use a torch if you have room and beware of your surroundings so you don't start a fire inside your car. If you don't have room, run the car till it warms up and then try to remove the sensor. Forget the socket, Use a regular old hand wrench (i think 20 or 22mm?). The closed end side of your wrench goes on the sensor and then give the other side of the wrench a couple good whacks with a hammer and it should break loose. You can also try linking two wrenches together to get more leverage.

thnx guys..

due to space and the stubborness of removing one of the sensors...i ended up dropping the h pipe so it would be easier...that only took 20 minutes and now it should hopefully be easier. as for the sensor, the wrenched part is totally rounded from repeated attempts at loosening it.

im going to have a go at it tommorow...

dang another head scratcher...

i looked at my old sensors and theres a number stamped on the casing (EFI E97F-9F472AA) which according to 50resto is for a 1990 5.0 because they sell it seperately, see links part descript ( http://www.latemodelrestoration.com/item/DY606/Motorcraft-Oxygen-Sensor-For-91-93-50L-Mustang ) now, the sensor i ordered from 50resto is the motorcraft 1991-93 5.0 EFI ALL....wtf?? so i had a sensor made for 1990 5.0's in my midpipe?? is that why the new sensor (in link) does not thread in my stock midpipe? has this happened to anybody else? so i got the wrong part even though its for a 1991 5.0 EFI ALL? which is what i have...wtfeezy.

i hope this makes sense lol

Nope, all 4 wire sensors do the exact thing ford chevy dodge whatever (except for newer cars with uego sesnors) and they will all thread in. I have had several O2's do the same thing as you have had happen. They live in a rough enviroment so its not all that unusual

Go get the thread chaser at monument. The sensor should be okay as long as it's wired the same. I'm guessing the part number changed when ford changed from speed density to mass air.
