So had a leaking pinion seal and wanted to replace it.
Couple questions:
Do you guys use loc-tite on the pinion nut?
Brand new my pinion nut came with what seems to be red paint/thread locker on it already.
And what would cause a pinion nut to lose its preload? When I removed the pinion nut it was loose, I applied proper preload when I assembled it a few months back so I'm not sure why the bearings lost preload. They appears to be perfectly fine.

I have only seen that happen when either a crush sleeve was reused .
