Custom grind is always the best way to go so I hear. But to save money and have a decent cam ford racing will work plus if it's the GT40 setup I think a 303 cam will get the job done that's just my opinion. I'm no expert I'm pretty curious to see some of the more seasoned members chime in.

my brother ran a GT40 heads/intake, a B-cam with 1.7rr, 3.73 gears. it ran extremly hard for such a simple setup.

That combination, if fuel injected, will like either a b303/1.7 advanced 2* or a tfs stage 1. If carbed I would go with an E303 advanced 2* with 1.7's on the exhaust. Any more than that and you are wasting your time. As for the custom grind... not a fan, not that they are bad. I just don't like the severe ramp rates which are hard on valve train components. In fact, with out the faster ramp rates, going custom is a waste of time. Not to mention I show my tail lights to plenty with my combo.

depends on, well, the builder, condition of the block, fuel system etc... stock is 180 ish to the wheels. My car lays down 311hp and 335tq. ported gt40 irons, stock valves, b/1.7, Stock computer and all emissions equipment on the car (passes like a champ) and running through fms shorties.

There is a guy "I'm sure someone will be able to give the info here hopefully?" that goes over every aspect of Your combo then pick's an off the shelf cam to fit Your need's for around $150 buck's. Alot of cam's will produce similar peak #'s but a good cam guy matches Your cam to the make power throughout the RPM range that Your supportng part's will work best and make the car more enjoyable and faster. Cam swap is alot of work for most people "unless You have done it many times or do it for a living" so it is something You don't want to take a chance on. Let's face it by the time You upgrade Your fuel, ignition, gear's, head's, cam, intake, and the list goes on, then $100-$150 buck's is a drop in the bucket as it is one of or even the most important part You will choose so paying a few extra buck's here "for a custom or recommended cam" could be the difference between a car that run's Ok and a car that SCREAM'S from idle to redline! Good luck with Your build!
