I bought this new mobil 1 oil for my daily driver. It is suppose to last 15k miles. So it outlasts all the filters that I know of. I was wondering how that's going to work out. I might have to change the filter every three thousand. So do you guys know if it matters that I change the filter and not the oil? It wouldn't harm anything would it?

The oil is for the 98 BMW. 90 mustang I change 3k. But I would like to know if changing the filter without changing the oil would harm anything. Its a canister filter so there wouldn't be any oil draining when I take out the filter.

if you want to run the oil for 15k, atleast change the filter media. which would be easy for you since it's a cartridge on top of the motor.

me personally, i don't care how long the oil change intervals are extended to.. i change mine at 3k with a new filter..

Yeah i was going to change the filter every 3-4k miles. And the car holds 7qts so it shouldnt be that bad esp since mobil guarantees 15k miles out of the oil.
