For the winter go with some synthetic 10W-30. In the summer some switch over to 10W-40 in the summer for more protection but My personal opinion is pick a good brand oil and stick with the same weight. Some really high mileage engines benifit from thicker oil's like 20W-50 because the clearances aer'nt as close or tight as they were when the car was newer.

Do NOT run heavy oil in a 4V modular!
The timing chain tensioners have a bleed hole & if the oil is too thick, it will over-tension the timing chains and break them.

5W-30 or 5W-20 is all I recomend.

thank you. I'll drain it out. And put some 5w-30 in it. Do you think I need to replace the filter as well?

run the 5/30. the 10/30-40 is too thick for these motors. you can even run a synthetic if you want. its all up to you.

I am WRONG [Embarrassed] . Did'nt notice that it was a mod motor. Good rule of thumb is to go with what Shaun "93 pony" say's [Wink] .

I run 5w-30 royal purple in mine. But once u go synthetic don't plan on switching back to or mixing it with conventional oil. its about $7.50 a quart tho so do what your pockets allow

I do 1000s of oil changes a year. We see customers that switch all the time. Nothing happens, and it is because syn oils are just better oils not different. Give me facts on why you can't switch??? You won't have any, becuase it is just a myth. Not trying to be a dick I just get tired of hearing that comment. And trust me I hear it all the time...
