Ok it 90 mustang and when you first start the car the voltage stays in the middle with or without the lights on after it warms it drops 1 or 2 notches below half and stays there throughout the rpm band. tested the alt. changed the batt. checked alt. headlight harness. also i took one of the cables off and it will die out after about 10 seconds.. could the alt. be working but be on its way out [Confused] and help is apprec. [patriot]

if you unhook the battery when the car is running its gonna die no matter what. get a voltmeter with the car on test the 2 battery terminals it should read in the 13-15 volt range and ur probably good

Sounds like it could be the alternator. Get a full charging system test done
