I am trying to take it out to replace it. The car didnt have a grommet or the pcv valve to I want to replace it and make sure its all new. who knows how long its been missing.

I read in a couple places that you can use a big screw and screw it into the middle of the "birds nest" and then pull it out.

Can anything fall down into the engine under this screen?

Theres a plate riveted onto the bottom side of the lower intake to help keep oil splash from reaching the pcv and helps prevent debris from falling inside of the valley. If you have a new grommet and screen. Get a set of long needls nose pliers or long screwdriver and pry the grommet out. You then can use a magnet or long hook and pry it out.

I use small 90 degree needle nose pliers. Work like a charm!
