The advantage of running the phenolic spacer would be preventing the heat transfer from the lower half of the manifold getting to the top, this reduces the air intake charge temp therefore offering denser charge = more power. The other advantage being that using the spacer also increase runner lenght which offers more torque. Gains I have typically seen on 5.0L engines are around 8-10 hp.

yes, a gasket goes on BOTH sides of the spacer. [ May 08, 2008, 04:06 AM: Message edited by: 347_C.I.D. ]

Ive seemed to lose top end power when running spacers on EFI 5 liters. When you think about it,it increases runner length which hurts top end HP but 'maybe' increases low end torque an insignifigant amount.Id prefer the top end horsepower, these small motors need it.Just my 2 cents.

yeah i heard about the top end but i guess it depends on what type of intake. the edlebrock and trick flow is a stronger intake and will perform better then my cobra as far as air but im going to do more research on what your talking about 50daddy. thanks
