hey guys i need some help. i have a 90 coupe all stock, except with bbk shorty headers, 2 chamber flows with dumps and a cai. the knocks(NO) were extremely high. the numbers were: first try 15 mph max 807 i ran 1841 25 mph max 746 i ran 1273 second try 15 mph max 807 i ran 1505 25 mph max 746 i ran 0918 after the 1st smog i went and drop the timing 3 degrees, it was at 11* to begin with. changed the plugs from a 25 to a 24. then change the egr w/sensor. so after all the little work it only went down by 336 @15 mph, and down 355 @ 25mph. after i got home from the last run a buddy and i pulled codes and we got 31,33,41,91. any help or comments would be greatly appreciated. thanks guys.... code 31: PFE or EVP circuit below minimum voltage of 0.24 volts. code 33: EGR valve opening not detected. code 41: HEGO sensor circuit indicates system lean (right side) code 91: HEGO sensor circuit indicates system lean (left side)
this was taken from fordfuelinjection.com
you may want to run a key on engine off(KOEO) test as well to see if something comes up. ive seen the code 41/91, o2 measuring lean condition before when i had a massive vacuum leak going into the evap canister. since your car is stock you may want to check your vacuum to see if its normal. is your idle smooth? do you have the egr hooked up? looks like of the 4 i think you're failing more due to the 02s measuring lean as a result of some sort of unmetered air via a vacuum leak, which then triggers the ecu to start dumping more fuel to correct the lean condition. as soon as i fixed the vacuum leak the code 41/91 went away. 33/41/91 sounds like a vacuum leak related problem to me, egr opens with vacuum so if you've got a leak it won't open, and will cause the computer to think it's running lean because of unmetered air coming in, so it's dumping fuel.

i checked all vac lines they all seem fine. i did take the egr back off and cleaned it with carb cleaner. and swapped out the o2's with my other 50. after the cleaning and o2s i reset the batt. and drove it for 20 min. no codes i also just went ahead and replaced the intake with the original(found someone to lend it to me). so were off to the 3dr try thanks for all you input will keep you guys updated.
