i chopped off my exaust from mufflers back for grudge night on the 15th, and was wondering if there would be any major drawbacks from getting straight pipe welded, and running no mufflers. i would still be running cats tho. thanks

I have a Mustang here that has a stock H-pipe with no mufflers and turndowns, sounds cool, doesnt seem to lose power, did this back in the day on another Mustang and added an extra balance tube on the stock H-pipe and it sounded way better.

It doesn't necessarily have to sound bad, it depends on your setup. I have FMS shorties, the stock 4 cat hpipe, straight pipes welded in place of the muffler and then mandrel bent tailpipes the rest of the way back in the stock location.
Sounds pretty damn good to me, and I always get compliments. Then again I also have a cam, GT40 upper and lower and some other goodies so again its dependant on your setup. It can also be very tame around town depending how you drive it, and when you give it a rev it sounds excellent and over 3k to WOT it just screams.
Also I'm pretty sure with the stock 2.5" hpipe and 4 cats a lack of backpressure will not be a problem, but again it does depend on your motor combo as well.

why do people leave there stock cats on? when you can get x/h pipe with high flow cats. why drop the mufflers when you still have the bottle neck of you 4 cat stock 2 1/4 pipes?
