So I noticed a oil smell in the back of my car yesterday and when I took it to Luna's yesterday to have my exhaust put on I noticed some oil above the rear differential. I think its leaking where the drive shaft meets up. I also noticed a clunk sometimes if I am just cruising and i decide to get on it.
I was thinking the joint was messed up maybe? What do you guys think?
I was thinking about having 3.73's put in instead of the 3.55's it has now, would it be a worthy change?

It sounds like a bad U-joint. I think you benefit from changing the gears, even though it doesn't seem much different it helps. Also if the noise is from too much lash in the gears it will be taking care of when they change them. Oh yeah and the leak is most likely the pinion seal. +1 on the bad u-joint. You would hear it all the time if it were the backash of the R&P.

first thing I'd do is check the driveshaft bolts at the rear end, but it does sound like the pinion seal is leaking also.
