I am picking up a 69 Mach 1 this weekend. The motor was gone through right before it was parked 4 years ago. Is there anything I can do to raise the chances of not having to go through the motor right away. Just seeing if there are any tricks to saving a motor that has just been sitting. I am going to re-do the motor but in the mean time I would like to be able to pull in and out of the garage and move when needed.

you can use yo chev-ro-legs to push it in and out of the garage [Big Grin] but on the serious side, dont run the gas thats in the tank, and use the highest octane you can until you can get a new carb kit, cuz i bet the jets are possibly gummed up from sitting and change the spark plugs. that carb thing is probably the only thing (if the car was fine before parked) that would hold you up from firing up. my .02. good luck and [worship] on that find

Drain the oil, fill with fresh and prime the oil system.

We need to pull the plugs, shoot WD40 in the cylinders and turn it over by hand a few times as well before trying to fire it. I'll go through the carb before it gets gas too.

Three 540 Bimmers and a 5.0 Explorer.... got a Ford back in the stable!

It's time for the country to do what Obama's own father did.
