I have a op to get a svo351 lightning shortblock from fordracing for around $1300+ship
anyone run this shortblock before?how do they perform?what potental will i see with the factory hyp.pistions?can they take the abuse of a up to 12lbs blower?if not how bout 75 shot?
This is for a fox coupe with a t5 . street/strip/every other day driver.

I have no idea on price but the trick to hypereutectic pistons is the tune.

Since hypereutectic metal is somewhat brittle (more silicon) compared to forged once detonation occurs you have much less room for error when it occurs.

Quick surfing found the bare block to be $1100 so $1300 for a short block is a deal. But once you put a power adder your tuner better be sharp or pistons will crack!

I'd say 7-10 #'s top and maybe a 100 shot at the most or you'll be spending a lot on a good tune. Even then a malfunctioning injector or some low octane gas will make you SOL.

Or save up for a forged assembly and go nuts!

thank you for your time and replying to my post [patriot]
I've been shoping around...so far i found that
lightning 351w shortblock for the super cheap route,or go super expensive and buy a all out
c.oast h.igh p.> 401 big bore winsor (4.125"bore 3.75"stroke)Dartsportsman w/forged internals shortblock for $6k
I work in torrance near coast high,so it definetly on my mind. Another option if i didnt wanna go 351 would be a bennet racing 347/afr/sportman/systemax/bad ass long block for
a hefty 9k... I kinda just wanna plug in and play,I've been through 2 5.0 shortblocks i rebuilt that had the ring go to shit after 75k miles from hard launches with a 14psi procharger
.point is, its gotten old and i would like a torque monster for a once a week 60mile round trip to an 1/8 mile track thats it.I don't own a trailer so its driven to the track with some aggressive freeway passing [dance]

don't even worry about a roller 351, use any year, maybe even 69-74 and just get the linkbar roller lifters. dont think you'll have to worry about splitting that block
