So I've got my heart set on dropping a 460 into my 86 Mustang, so I've put together a little engine combo that I think might be okay but I would like the opinion of the experts here. So here goes:
Ford 460 Big Block stroked to 552cid - High Nodular 4.500" Crank - Custom Forged Pistons (Compression Ratio?) - Forged 4340 H-Beam Rods 6.800" - Trick Flow 460 Intake - Trick Flow 460 Heads - Trick Flow 1.73 Rockers - Lunati Cam (249*/255* dur, .675"/.675" lift) - Typical swap headers, 1 3/4" primaries?
I am thinking of 10:1 - 10.5:1 compression, should still be pump gas friendly. Will be backed by a C4 and 31 spline 8.8". So, what do ya'll think of the combo? What kind of power and torque you think I should expect?
After Thought: The car is gutted with full length subframes, will be getting a cage shortly along with tubular K member & a arms.

Yeah, sounds like my dream setup. You are definatly going to want the cage so you don't twist the car apart.

Should have ass loads of torque. However, the 460 block is pretty damn heavy for a foxbody. Also, you are probably going to have to "massage" the fenders a bit to get the beast to fit

There are several better off the shelf heads for that motor. Cobra Jets and Super Cobra Jets. And the p51 heads that are bank.

It's just one of those things where I'd like to have it somewhat streetable to cruise town for a night and not have to pay $5 a gallon or more on race gas. ![[Smile]](smile.gif)

smog? no
you will need much much larger primaries than 1 3/4" if you want to make any power with 552ci.
