if money was in issue then i would just go with a supercharger cause if u do head work with cams it would end up costing about the same for a used charger kit. turbo kits are always expensive.

Honestly man if your boys got money issues then he shouldnt have gotten a cobra. With the modular motors you really gota pay to play. All the above options you mentioned are going to run you at least $1500 and thats before installation and getting the car tuned. He may be better off with a 5.0 if he wants speed fast and cheap.

supercharger will be cheaper than a turbo kit. even if he spends the extra money to get a turbo set up, the engine won't take enough boost to make it worth it. A friend of mine is having a turbo set up made for his 96 cobra, only becuase he'll upgrade to a bigger stronger block and internals and run mad boost then.. but otherwise just stay with n/a.
your buddy must already be in the 12s with the bolts you listed? how fast does he want it to go? these cars seem to love nitrous. if he's just looking for 11s that might be the way to go.
I finally got a pass in the 13.2xs last week. I was hoping to get into the 12s with just gears and k&N filter, but... i'm starting to think that's not possible...not with me driving anyway. How's yoru friend doing?

Get a supercharger. It's the cheapest option, it's smog legal, easiest to install, and you should be making around 400rwp.
