Depending on what you want you should consider a th400, th350 or a glide. Tons of companies build these. Art Carr, Huges, Freddy Brown, Coan. Get manual reverse valve body, tbrake and no engine braking. If its just for 1/4 mile make sure to get aluminum forward and direct drums. They are lighter and stronger while reducing rotational mass. This will give you more power handling capability, more rpm capability and less power loss. You also may want to consider an ultra bell or other SFI approved housing. Talk to Smokinlx he's a big time drag racer and he can set you up with some names and tranny info.

Thank's for the compliment Cummin's [Razz] . I would say He need's to specify what type of car it's going into, stick or auto, how much money He want's to spend, and will it be driven to the track or track only car?

Well he said 1/4 mile car so there is really no other choice but to go auto with a brake. I'm sure he can get a streetable gm tranny that will do well at the track. But the trans in my first reply will not be street friendly. How about some suggestions from the auto trans king Smokinlx himself?

ProMotion Powertrain is where I ordered mine from. They build per order not quantity. I also checked with JeffS about this place and he said they were good!

I know what He said but what if He is driving 50-100 miles each way to the track then He will need OD. If He need's an od tranny then it will depend on what Year car and power level. I never claimed to be an expert but will share My experience if it will help someone out. [patriot]

Ummmm dude you can spend easily 8-9 G's for a good tranSMISSION set up. I don't know how much for a good tranny set up I'll leave that personal side of your life up to you.

In regards to a transmission you have not given any relevant information that will help people give an educated suggestion.

And yes I am gay! Not that there is anything wrong with it.

OK let make this a bit more clear! What experience do you have with your transmission and what band it. Is there any transmission that you would not use and why? has anyone used any of the transmissions cummin suggested and do they work good for you?

ugghhhhh. The reason why no one is replying is because I already listed the companies. So give them a call and order your tranSMISSION.

Yes I see what your saying. But I would like to know what transmission they have and if they hold up for them. I was looking at Art Carr because they have a package price that is very cheap and it seem to good to be true. The others are a bit more higher in price. I would like to use an Art Carr if its a good tranny but I will pay more if Art Carr is no good.
