Author Topic: 85 cfi upgrades lscstk ¯ Member # 5788 posted                                 This may been asked a lot of times before, but here it is again, I want o know what it would take to convert from cfi to 4vcarb, this is a 5.0 not sure if ho, ihave to look at build date, if that is not dueable, and I am not looking for a lot out of this just a little better than the rated 140hp, maybe get a little closer to 200hp, would a cam, e7 heads, 1.6 rockers, (this is on a LSC, 3500lb car so I am not sure if it is daul exhaust), headers, so let me what ideas you guys can come up with, if not it will be a very low mileage near perfect collector for restoration, but I am hopeful. thanks -------------------- 3.73 gears-MAC cover-Turbo mufs-1 5/8 header-GT40p heaeds-TFS valve kit-SVO-1.6RR-BBK cat x-pipeand CAI-Cobra Intake-65mmTB, upgraded sway bar F/R Posts: 258 | From: stockton ca | Registered: Jun 2005  |  : Camaro Kid Z/28 ¯ Member # 3100 posted                              i have an 84 CFI Ho auto mustang. due too the speed density, you limited too mods. The problems how much vaccum the speed desnity needs too work properly. any increase of air or decrease in velocity will cause the car too run crappy. if you keep it CFI then you limited too the following mods.... 1) better air filter 2) true dual exhaust 3)1.7 roller rockers 4)increasing the fuel pressure ( i havenot found an after adjustable regualtor for the CFI) 5) i do not know any cam shafts that will not alter or throw the ECM into limp mode. 6) under drive pulleys I have done the dual exhaust coversion not too long ago. and its made a differnece, not the increase i was hoping, but you only have 1 O2 sensor on that vehicle.
