Author Topic: 71 Maverick tranny ? 1FAST89GT ¯ Member # 5071 posted                              i will be getting a 71 maverick soon but the tranny is shot. is that a c-4? it has 289. any other trannys that can go in there? There were some small block C6 trannys around but not many. If it has a 289 then its not the original motor. most likely its a 302. -------------------- Three 540 Bimmers and a 5.0 Explorer.... got a Ford back in the stable! I know it works good and had a shift kit but dont have the converter for it anymore. Let me take a look at it and see if I can find out what year it is. My friend has a 71 Mustang that he is looking to sell if your interested. It runs, drives and has a lot of extras on the motor.
