Sup guys,
I have a '90 gt 5speed and yesterday when i turned it on it seemed to be strugling then when it turned on it made a nasty sound like it was eatin somthing up. I drove home and on the out the parking lot the noise went away I parked the car checked it was fine but when i tried to turn it back on it just whinned. Did the starter go out or could it be something else? [Confused]
--Thanks--

starter or flywheel....you prob chewed a gear off either one....if the starter is kicking out and if basically free spinning...you killed the flywheel.....easy to replace both though....check starter 1st

I'll probably try and switch the starter first.

you should pull the starter out and look at the bendix gear, if the gear looks fine then a little trick you can try is to put the starter on the ground and step on it (with good pressure) because it will want to torque and arc it with a hot wire and see if the bendix gear comes out to engage or just spins where it is. If it does not come out then it is your starter, but if it does then try and look into your bellhousing and see if you have chewed up the flywheel.
