ok I got '89 stng 5.0 convt. everytime i start the car you can here a grinding noise. so i change the starter and it made no diferrent. still grinds until the car engine wont even turn. so i decided the take out the trannny and see whats was going on. the flywheel tooth has grinding mark. metal chip from the teeth of the flywheel. so i tought it was the cause of it. but got a new flywheel 157 tooth. put it in. start it up it was the same crap. grinding noise. drove the car for aout a week until the motor wont enev turn. all you hear the starter spinning? any quess here guest. is it the starter/ flywheel? kinda tired of this crap. need help guys.

do you have your mid-plate on.(plate in middle of engine and trans)

finally I found out what the problem was. it was the starter. I went to switch out the starter for a mini hi-torque one and it didnt grind at all. should have done dat before but i didnt. the old starter was the big/heavy one.
