I want to go to 4.10 gears on my 04 mustang gt. Its an auto and if i get the gears would i have to get anything with the gears or could i just get those slapped in and go... or do i need anything else? And how much does it usually cost to get installed and is it even worth having some one do it for me. Could i just do it my self?

Cant just do it by yourself. People on here will do it as a side job. You will also need to get an install kit when you get the gears.

You would also need a spedometer calibrator of some kind....unless you have some sort of flash tuner that can adjust for that as well.
You could install them yourself but it's usually better left to experienced people.
There are quite a few on the board that do that kind of thing ![[Wink]](wink.gif)

Gears are a great choice in an automatic, if ya have the cash get a torque converter also. I had great results from "edge" converters talk to Andre, you will not regret it!! ![[burnout]](graemlins/burnout.gif)

you got the right ratio in mind...
I've always had my gears down at Rearend Specialties in Santa Clara... Not the cheapest but I have never had any problems...

Well it's one of those deals that may be worth the extra $$$.$$ up front if you plan to do other mods in the future and plan on adjusting fueland timing curves among other possibilities w/ the latest hand-held programmers.
Or you can just buy the speedo calibrator i believe www.dallasmustangs.com has them
edit: sorry first link no-worky lol

I went to that site and i didnt see anything for an 04 Automatic i guess i will just have to get the programmer first, I intended to get both. I would have rather got the gears first. I got a qoute from one place and they said $280.00-$350.00 to just get them installed. Thats with me buying the gears and everything.

Sorry bro didn't mean to point ya in the wrong direction but at least you know what i'm talking about now.
As for the gear install.....maybe start a post or use the search to find out who does side jobs here....there are plenty at a much cheaper cost than what you stated.
I'm surprised no-one has offered but then again they are probably busy wrenching and not blabbering on the computer ![[Razz]](tongue.gif)

Definately true...gears should be one of the 1st things you should do. A converter that is matched up to your cars mods and power curves will do wonders for you.
I was able to drop 5/10ths when I swapped to a converter that put me into my power band faster. ![[burnout]](graemlins/burnout.gif)
