I am familiar with both types but don't really know of the major advantages of disadvantages to running either style.Lets say that I was going to order some aftermarket heads to put together a hci package both don't know which to order. [burnout] [burnout] [burnout]

not really, unless you already have pedestal mount rockers you want to reuse

go with stud mount there stronger, Ive seen the pedastal mount type brake bolts at high RPM's

5/16th pedistal mount rockers are stronger then 3/8th stud mount.
7/16th stud is stronger then both. Shaft is best.

The reason Pedistal is strong is because the 5/16th bolt is only used to clamp the pedistal in place. The pedistal itself is stronger then a 3/8th stud as far as rocker mount movment is concerned.

I have personally broken the Crane pedestal socket head bolts at Laguna Seca last year. I still use the pedestal rockers because I am too cheap to buy new heads, however, I now have hardened socket heads bolts which I have had no problems with.
Next set of heads will be 7/16's bolt on rockers.
