I intalled my 125 shot nozzles and finally hooked up my bottle heater and got a blow down tube. Before I go off blowing stuff up I had a few questions.

first,...what should I retard my timing too when using the 125 shot? **edit** their website says to retard to 4deg. when using 125

second,...should or do I need to upgrade my fuel injectors even though this is a dry kit?

third,...should I upgrade my fuel pump?

fourth,...is there ANY way to install the saftely blow down tube while my bottle is still full?

#2. No.
#3. Yes.
#4. Yes, unscrew the cap. The blow-out disc is beneath that, you'll be fine.

1. Retarding 6* degrees is a good SAFE starting point with a dry kit at 125. Advance until you hear detonation or power starts to decrease, then retard it 1-2 dergrees where you heard no detonation. You'll probably end up around 3-4 retard. Pm 66ACCobra or Nitrous Bob, good with N02.
2. Yes
3. Yes or a KB boostabump.
4. Not sure

3,...what size pump 225? And can you help explain why a larger pump in required for a dry kit?
4,...I tried to uncap the top and n20 started coming out so I had to re-tighten it. Did I do somthing wrong?

Ya, go with a 255. The ZEX kit pulls fuel pressure, so you might want to make sure there's plenty there for it to pull.
The cap you need to pull is on the side, not the top. Unless of course your bottle doesn't have the proper port already installed. If that's the case, you're SOL.

I'm running this same kit on the Cobra...with a 35 shot. [Wink]

I think the bottle needs to be empty to install a blow down,at least thats what I was told about mine. My timing is at 6* with the 125 shot, with the stock fuel system I heard its best to run 43psi on the base setting. You shouldn't need to upgrade,i would get a fuel gauge and adjustable fuel pressure reg. A bigger pump is nice though, especaily if you plan on any future mods.

I'd upgrade to say 24/30 pounders mainly for futrue mods, you can probably get by with stock injectors(19lbs?), but they'd be pretty much maxed with the ZEX. Upgrade your fuel system somehow just to be on the safe side. As JohnB said, a 255lph pump would be good. KB boostapump is just what it sounds like, it increases voltage to your existing pump so it can pump more fuel/keep pressure up. Mine works great.

How much does the boostapump cost?

thanks guys for all the info.

my blow down tube installs on the top so I guess I have to wait until the next fill. I think I'll start with a bigger fuel pump then move onto the injectors later down the road.

Motorhead,...how does the 125 feel? I'm worried my car wont be able to handle 125. How many miles are on your car?

Boostapump is about 200 bones. It(according to the literature that came with it)will hold damn near twice the pressure that a T-rex pump will keep. I run a 150 shot wet on top of my sc and fuel pressure is not an issue at all. And it's adjustable to fit your needs. [patriot]

Jdub, your car will handle a 125 shot all day. Keep doing your homework though [patriot] ...and it feels great, ask JohnB, his shit runs a 11 flat damn near.

hey jdub
I used to run a zex kit, and used a few on buddies cars, all were a little different in tuning because of different ijectors

a few things

your motor will be fine, the 125 jets will yield about 75-85 rwhp, zex is WAY over rated on its power figures

you really need a fuel pump, you might be ok but for $100 and a few hours it is almost a neccesity

injectors would be nice but not 100% needed, when you do step up the injectors you will need to play with different jets because its gonna run really rich when on the fun gas

blowdown tube will have to be installed with the new fitting on the next bottle fill, so go have some fun now and hurry up and kill that bottle

you should also go one heat range colder on plugs, and duh!! run 91 when spraying

THe 125 shot feels good, not to much not to little.I think a 5.0 will handle it all day as long as the motor is in decent shape and you tune it right. The 75 shot felt pretty weak,so I skipped the 100 shot and went strait to the 125. It takes it like a champ and really wakes the car up,my face is like this after I spray [Big Grin] .My car has 140k on the motor but 10k on the top end. I have a upgraded fuel system though,so its ready for heads and cam when I got the money.

Wow,...thanks agian for all the info and for not shootin at me with my dumb questions. I'm just a noob at this, I'm still a noob with the car itself.

So, continue homework, get fuel pump beer and buddy for install, already run 91, already have colder plugs, get off road h/x pipe (again), keep injectors in mind as a future option/requirment,use current bottle up fast and make sure car is running in tip top shape.

I think I got it down [patriot]

whats up jdub???

i would keep the stock injectors, unless your replacing soon anyway. but look to upgrade

i would do a 190 or 255 pump to be safe although you will prob get away w/ it fine

1 run 10* timing w/ 100 shot and never have had probs. so if you ran 8* you'll be fine and cool days prob fine on 10* 2* retard per 50 hp of juice is what i always do.
i even sprayed at 14* once cuz i forgot to switch..it ran fine, but it was cool out 70's

BIGGEST THING ON ALL THIS TUNING STUFF>>>>

read your plugs often.....look for blue tips or even melted tips. just cuz you don't hear spark knock doesn't mean it's not too lean. keep an eye on the plugs and you'll be fine...check a couple on each side...

nice to have a guage too...i mounted mine on my hood, so i can see it...that way if it even fluctuates...you can lift.

another thing you can do..cheap way to get by but you'll lose a couple ponies , run the nitrous jet -1 of waht you need and the vac jet +1

so if the setup is 52 in the line and 62 in the vac you can go 51 in the line and 63 in the vac

it'll phatten it up so you won't go lean

and last of all from me....i cut about 1 1/2 seconds off my 'vert w/ the zex kit and 100 shot, so i'm cool w/ it , but it's a heavy little pig

Nitrous Bob mentioned going a little fat with your shot, that's what I do. I go with the normal n20 jet, but +1 on the fuel, just to be safe. You'll hardly(if at all)notice the diff. Good luck and happy squeezin' [patriot]
