Topic: Anyone ever have a fualty IAC?

I have been having Idle problems with my car, so i cleaned the IAC and the idle was fine for about an hour or two. The idle climbed again. Has anyone ever had a faulty IAC?

yeah almost everyone i know who has had a 5.0 engine in their car has gone through one or more of those things. ive gone through two.

IAC's are always cloggin on 5.0's...The 86-93 are the same and the 94-95's are the same...
I've heard the stock 94-95 IAC's are not the best in modified engines(hard to tune)...

94-95's can be somewhat tricky to dial in perfectly with a cam. It takes some adjustment on the throttle screw and watching how the car reacts. If the car is able to be tuned via a chip than it allows you to dial the idle in this way as well.

Try a the Ford spacer that goes between the IAC and Throttle Body. It has bleeders to set idle. It was a factory fix for IAC issues in the 90s. Any ford dealer can get one. I have one and I love it, It helps me with my cam and stroker. It gives you adjustablility without cranking on the throttle screw and messing up the TPS setting. Check the TPS setting too and get it under 1 volt .98 is ideal. Oh yeah, set your base idle with the IAC unplugged at about 800 or whatever works best. Once the bleeder is set, get the TPS right by adjusting the throttle plate, go back to the bleeder plate if needed. Once all don disconnect you battery for one minute, then start your car and let it idle for about 5 minutes, DO NOT touch the throttle during this time. There ya go, you should be ok or darn close. Now over time you can periodically play with th bleader screws to lower or raise the idle to fit your needs. Good Luck.
