Hello everyone, new to the site! My son and I have rebuilt a 72' or 74' ford 351 engine for his stang. Wow what a job for two greenhorn guys. Got the engine to start really rough at first, move the dist. and it seams to run ok. Put the timing light on and my question is the timing on the engine? is it above or below top dead center and by how much? thanks guys.

i would set the timing to 12 degrees before top dead center and then bump it up one or two degrees at a time until it start to ping and then back it off 2 degrees for optimum performance
