How does the person who burns the chip adjust the air fuel ratio, what parameters, etc?

The major changes are made through the MAF transfer function

The base fuel table/open loop fuel table, once the MAF transfer function is calibrated correctly.

Since I have a TPS switch, can I have timing advanced 4 degrees at WOT and 1 degree during regular driving?

Can the mass air voltage be raised with the chip? I am currently using an IST air adjuster similar to the Pro-M air optimizer, to maintain a good idle, can I ditch it if I get a chip? Also, what are the differences in options and functions between superchips and diablo, one better or both same?

The MAF will put out voltage all the way to whatever the battery will output, however there is no way for the computer to recognize anything more than 5v. Are you currently "pegging" the meter you have on the car?

Is the IST adjuster the same as the plate that goes between the TB and IAC valve? You car should idle and drive much better with a chip compared to just the stock computer(especially on a heavily modified vehicle), but if what your talking about is the plate that sandwiches between the TB and IAC valve then there is no harm in leaving it on the car.

On OBD-II vehicles SCT offers a flasher that can hold up to 3 custom tunes where the Diablo flash can hold only 1. The Diablo flasher allows some small changes by the end user and the SCT flash will also allow small changes within the next few months with a free software package. SCT has a switch chip that holds 4 custom tunes, the factory tune and also a "anti-theft" program that does not allow the car to be started.

A chip can advance WOT timing 4 degress and part throttle timing 1 degree if that is what you are asking.

Couple of ?'s

-Would the type of chip you buy be dependant on the burning capabilities of the software used by the tuner? Or are they universal?

-When comparing these custom tunes w/ chips to a custom downloaded tune w/ a predator which one would be most beneficial?

Also since we are on this topic could the problems that Andyman was addressing in this post http://www.californiafords.com/ubb/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=6;t=009124 be due to improper tuning w/ the MAF he is using? Just a thought...

Chips are not universal. You need a SCT software to tune a SCT chip, you need Diablo software to tune a Diablo chip ect...

The most benificial will always be the one tuned IN PERSON...non mail-order. However once a car is truley custom tuned in person, small changes can be made and sent via email to the customer to be downloaded to their flasher if using a flasher on a OBD-II vehicle.

His problem could be one of many things. It's really hard to diagnose without datalogging. It might be bad o2 sensors though... What MAF is he using?

Is the IST adjuster the same as the plate that goes between the TB and IAC valve? You car should idle and drive much better with a chip compared to just the stock computer(especially on a heavily modified vehicle), but if what your talking about is the plate that sandwiches between the TB and IAC valve then there is no harm in leaving it on the car.

My IST adjuster mounts at the oval mass air connector to change the reading at the mass air sensor. I know of the device you refer to that goes to the TB, I think that's the Casper's TPS calibrator, but this one mounts directly at the mass air sensor. I have a CL 76mm MAF and the direct voltage is at 0.72 and it had a rough idle. I turned up the gain on the IST adjuster to read 0.88 and it runs better now. Will I be able to leave the IST adjuster in place and adjust the mass air voltage with the SCT chip or will this cause problems with the SCT calibrations?
